Trying to burn up a few hours yesterday between our daughters' early arrival and an afternoon check-in, we visited Mead Botanical Garden. We enjoyed walking around this large park, and found some interesting flora and fauna too.
I'd never seen these huge Lubber Grasshoppers, but there were several of them there. They were about 3" long.
Another insect I'd never seen was the Great Black Wasp, which is about 1.5" long.
American Beautyberry.
We all found this hanging moss very interesting; we don't have this back in California!
And here is a Green Tree Frog. He was very calm and let us get quite close.
Huge bugs, tiny frogs; he was only 1" long.
