First Impressions of Cartagena

After being in the land of Nothing for so long, we were almost shocked by how nice Cartagena is. The day after we arrived we walked one block to a fabulous grocery store with lots of fresh produce, a large variety of meats, and a lovely bakery and deli.

We also walked three blocks to a chandlery where we purchased a VHF antenna to replace the one that got struck by lightning. We had it installed in no time and the good news is: our radio works fine.

We also purchased a courtesy flag for Colombia and the Captain ran it up the halyard.

After so many accomplishments Saturday, we took the day off Sunday and went out to lunch at a restaurant named D'Res which is only five blocks from the marina. Oh my! It was fabulous. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The ambiance (live music, no less) was perfect, and the service was impeccable. And it wasn't very expensive either. In fact it was so good we will be going back next Sunday and I'll take photos to share with you.
