Latitude 35 finishes Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge

Just one hour ago we heard an announcement on VHF 16 that one of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge boats was approaching the finish line so we hopped in the dinghy and went to the finish line which is only 100 yards from our boat.

We quickly realized that it was the American boat "Latitude 35". We were so excited to see them cross the finish line. The left the Canary Islands on December 20th and have rowed almost 3000 miles to arrive here in Antigua.
They surmounted great odds, not only because of the challenges of the trip itself, but also because they started as a four man crew and two weeks before the start, two men dropped out! The remaining crew consisted of Tom Magarov and Jason Caldwell, a San Francisco area man.
Every boat in the harbour, including all the mega yachts, hooted their horns and cheered loudly as "Latitude 35" made their way to the quay. The crew was promptly sprayed with champagne and welcomed ashore into the arms of support crew and loved ones. What a sight to see!

Congratulations "Latitude 35".
